The Best Dog Park Near the Welsh Farm Glamping (yes we’re dog-friendly, too)

Is it even a holiday when the dogs can’t come? We think not. Saying that, we’ve been to our fair share of dog-friendly accommodation and campsites that call themselves dog-friendly, but really it’s questionable. You walk in and there are so many rules surrounding our gorgeous pups it makes everyone more stressed than it’s worth - the dogs included.

So it’s like finding a drop of water in the desert when you stumble across somewhere that:

🐾 Doesn’t have unfenced neighbours 50 feet away (it doesn’t have neighbours within eyesight at all, good for barkers)

🐾 Doesn’t have a special place for "on-lead-at-all-times" dogs to poop

🐾 Is fenced - the whole way around, including the gate

🐾 Has outdoor space for everyone to run wild, pizza oven and hot tub included!

🐾 Has dog-friendly recommendations (also recommendations for anxious and reactive dogs too)

If you’re planning a break with your dog, chances are you’re searching for two things: somewhere your dog can really stretch their legs – and somewhere you can both relax afterwards. We can give you both. Pleasant Meadow Dog Park is a 6.3 mile (17 minute car drive) from your glamping escape, you can even pick up a takeaway from St Clears on your way back to The Welsh Farm Glamping - literally perfect!

Where is Pleasant Meadow Dog Park, exactly?

You’re a gem for asking! Here’s all the details you need to know.

From the Welsh Farm Glamping you drive back towards the A40 and Bancyfelin, from the A40, head south cross-country to Pleasant Meadow in Llangynog, just 17 minutes away.

🚗 Plenty of parking onsite and is accessibility-friendly

🕒 Open 6am - 10pm

🐕 Exclusive off-lead use of enriched grassland for 50 minutes PLUS 10 minutes to leave, so there’s no pup crossovers

🏚️ A shelter to hunker down in if the weather is blowing a hoolie

Nearby is the historic estuary-town Llansteffan, with its beautiful castle overlooking the sea and a lovely circular walk past Wharley Point and onto Scott’s Bay. This is a very popular destination for dog walkers and off-lead dogs on the beach. If your pup needs peace then this is probably one to miss. Stick to Pleasant Meadow Dog Park and browse our reactive-friendly walks.

Best Booking Times to Visit Pleasant Meadow Dog Park

Unlike city dog parks, where you have to scroll months in advance to even book a time slot, in rural areas like Pleasant Meadow, there isn’t such stress.

However, beautiful sunny days and weekends book up quickly; obviously, rainy weather is quieter, as are afternoons mid-week, so you’ll have more choice on when to go with your dog.

Because you could be staying at the Welsh Farm Glamping, I’d recommend booking well in advance and nabbing a time slot that works perfectly for the day you have planned.

Here are some itinerary ideas for you:

Morning: Lazy fireside breakfast at the yurt or cabin

Late morning: Run at Pleasant Meadow Dog Park

Lunch: Ty Glo, Laugharne

Afternoon: Wander the estuary of Laugharne, wide paths to Dylan Thomas Boathouse with plenty of visibility. Popular with walkers and dog walkers, but a lovely bit of Under Milk Wood history to escape in

Evening: Relax back at your glamping site with off-lead dogs snuffling about. Enjoy a delicious cheesy pizza in the wood-fired oven, stargaze and soak away the day in the hot tub.

Or keep it low key and chilled…

Morning: Lazy fireside breakfast at the yurt or cabin (you’re on holiday after all!)

Lunch: Dip into the fridge, after a morning dip in the hot tub.

Late Afternoon: Head out to the Pleasant Meadow Dog Park for zoomies

Evening: Swing by St Clears for a takeaway (chips, curry or Chinese) before hunkering down back at your glamping escape.

Dog-Friendly Tips for Visiting Pleasant Meadow Dog Park

Ok, so this section is going to be short and sweet because there’s very little you need to pre-think or prep for when it comes to visiting Pleasant Meadow.

There are no busy times or quiet times; you have the field exclusively for your use.

You only need a lead to get from your car and into the field.

So our tips are,

🐾 Bring a towel to dry down your pup after popping them in the shower

🐾 Make sure you don’t forget your post-walk wet dog car covers or crate

🐾 If you don’t like sharing dog bowls, bring your own

🐾 If you love snacks, or it’s a very chilly day, bring supplies or a flask

There is a boot cleaner, extra poo bags, water for the dogs and a picture opportunity!

Dog Park FAQ’s

Is Pleasant Meadow fully enclosed?

Yes, it’s known for being a safe dog park, and with 6ft fences, you feel comfortable using the area.

Are there any dog-friendly cafes nearby?

The nearest dog-friendly cafes are in St Clears, Carmarthen and Laugharne. Llansteffan has a dog-friendly bistro pub, Inn at the Sticks.

Can multiple dogs visit together?

Only under one booking. You have exclusive use and access to the dog park during your booking.

Are dogs allowed off-lead?

Yes, zoomies are essential

Is there no crossover time planned?

Yes, you have 50minutes in the dog park and ten minutes to pop your dog on lead and walk back to the car before the next dog arrives. On arrival, the dog park requests you stay in your vehicle until the previous dogs leave.

Is your glamping fully enclosed?

Yes, fully enclosed, the fence is 4ft, but due to location and surrounding hedges, it is not jumpable. We’ve never had any escapees, and we request that you let us know immediately if you find a weakness in the fencing so we can repair it.

Is your glamping suitable for large dogs?

Yes, if you’d like indoor space, book the Country Yurt or the Chestnut Cabin. Inside the Yurt Hideaway space is tight, so we advise 2 medium-sized dogs or smaller, but we’ve had large dogs stay!

If you haven’t booked yet or looked at our private, dog-friendly glamping sites (there are three tucked away on our farm), find out more here
